Peter Maddern has played golf for over 30 years but it was not until 2003 that he recognised that the game was more than a way 'to ruin a nice afternoon's walk'. Inspired by the work of David Scaletti and his Melbourne golf course images, Maddern took up photographing the golf courses he plays on around Australia.
This online exhibition covers his best work to date, from the Royal Adelaide golf course to the Arnold Palmer's only Australian designed course at Sanctuary Cove, Queensland, all captured on a Nikon digital. Rather than present golf holes as they may be played, Maddern focuses on the essential elements of the holes or of the golf course itself and brings them to view through the stunning light of early morning or late afternoon.
